MDT for the SPINE & EXTREMITIES

A reliable assessment & classification system that leads you to an effective treatment strategy for your patients

Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® – MDT

To be effective, treatment strategies first require a thorough and accurate assessment. Now is the perfect time to discover why thousands of clinicians worldwide rely on MDT to improve their patient outcomes.  Assess and diagnose patients accurately and confidently using Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy.

FEEDBACK FROM OUR RECENT PART A COURSES:

  • The course helped me view MDT through a new lens and a lot of biases I had were challenged for the good. I am now more confident in using MDT in my practice.
  • I will now have a much more clear and systematic approach. I had a lot of success with the basics, but I feel much more confident assessing and treating patients that do not respond to extensions/flexions/side glides and I now know when is best to implement new force progressions or force alternatives
  • MDT as a framework to organize assessments and treatments – great experience!
  • I am more organized now as well my clinical reasoning has improved tremendously
  • Greater understanding of how thoroughly to assess directional preference.
  • Refined my clinical approach and application

ASSESS & DIAGNOSE YOUR PATIENTS WITH CONFIDENCE

The MDT approach is a comprehensive biopsychosocial classification system that enables clinicians to reliably classify specific sub-groups and successfully match the classification to the appropriate treatment. Also, the MDT system identifies if the patient is unsuitable for mechanical therapy. A full history (with or without examination) can exclude patients with serious pathology or non-mechanical pain that require medical referral or non-mechanical treatment approaches. With a thorough knowledge of the three syndromes (derangement, dysfunction and posture) a trained clinician can identify directional preference, centralization or other consistent mechanical responses in keeping with the MDT syndromes and their predicted response to treatment. Once the syndromes are ruled out, the clinician can more accurately identify other diagnoses such as SIJ, spinal stenosis, symptomatic spondylolithesis or non-mechanical presentations unsuitable for mechanical therapy [Danish Institute for Health Technology Assessment (1999) American College of Occupation and Environmental Medicine (2005)].
